What To Do if Marital Status is Not Update in Record?
Most people wonder what to do if marital status is not updated in the record. The first thing a person should know is that the marital status is updated in the NADRA record. Every person has their unique ID card number, and all their relevant personal information is stored in it. When a person gets married, they are issued a computerized marriage certificate in Pakistan, which has a unique tracking number on it. This issuance of the marriage certificate from the system itself changes the marital record of a person. Previously, when the marriage certificate was issued, the concerned person had to take their certificate to the NADRA office to update the record, but since 2020, the centralized system has now changed.
Since 2020, every person who is issued a computerized marriage certificate has their marital record changed. Even now, if a person has not been issued the computerized marriage certificate but has been issued a manual nikahnama (marriage certificate), this record is also being computerized. Every person who is married or divorced is now updated in the system as quickly as the certificate is issued. Still, there can be a few reasons why the marital status is not updated in the record, which are as follows.
Ø PEOPLE MARRIED BEFORE 2020:
Prior to 2020, when a person got married, he or she had to physically go to the NADRA office to change his or her marital status. If the husband or the wife who got married before 2020 did not go to the NADRA office, or the wife did not apply for the ID card in her husband’s name, then the marital status will still not be updated.
Not Due to Paperwork:
if someone has just performed the religious ceremony for the marriage according to his religion but did not do any paperwork, then religiously he can be married, but legally he will not be married. To be legally married, the documents should be legally registered as per the law. The law only recognizes the documentary evidence of being married. In fact, marriage without registration is a crime in Pakistan. A person who is married is legally issued a marriage certificate. A person who is legally divorced is issued a divorce certificate in Pakistan. In the same way, when a person is single, he is issued an unmarried certificate in Pakistan.
Ø SYSTEM GLITCH:
The system glitch is also sometimes possible. There is also a probability that a person is legally married, but due to a technical glitch in the system, he or she is still shown as single. System errors are always possible all over the world.
